Baby Shower/Baby Bag Cake

I spent this week taking care of a sick kid, preparing and hosting company and making this AWESOME and ADORABLE baby shower cake. Everything on the cake is edible, the diaper bag is made of chocolate cake and the bottom is almond cake. Everything is covered in Fondant and all the accessories are made of a fondant/gumpaste except the baby bottles which are white chocolate.

Baby Alexander is all set with his toy keys, binky and little shoes!
Tuck in a diaper in the side pocket and add 2 chocolate bottles - perfect!
Close up of the shoes - they are so cute (and a total PAIN to make! - but I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!)
This week I am determined to make MacKenzie a new monogrammed shirt to replace the Peep shirt (since Easter is over) and I MUST get started on my cousins T-shirt memory quilt!

  5. Kelley - if you buy the "right" fondant it is really good. I always use Satin Ice brand fondant, which is really good - it is still really sweet but it is good. The stuff that you can buy at your local craft store - not so much! The cheapest place that I have found to order the good stuff is fondantsource.com.

Get some and try it! Its fun and can make cakes look REALLY cool!

  10. You're right. Gotta love those shoes. It's soooo cute! The cake looks very creative and ohh-soo-yummy! Well, we all love baby showers and pre-welcoming our baby into the world. And before your little one comes out, parents must be prepared in all aspects. You must be physically ready by regular exercise and eating healthy foods. You must be emotionally ready by staying happy all the time and just think happy thoughts. And you must also be financially ready by taking instant cash advance from your company (just in case your money runs out). After all, babies are worth everything you've done during the past nine months.
